City officials advise citizens to beware of potential contractors as homeowners begin to pick up the pieces from last weeks storms.

If you are a homeowner and searching for a contractor to help you with rebuilding there are certain things to keep in mind. Code enforcement officer for the city of Maryville, Jim Widerholt says seek referrals from friends and family and get at least 3 bids from different contractors.

Widerholt adds the city has waved building permit fees for storm related damage, however you are still required to obtain a building permit from the city.
