Former Sheriff Pleas

The former Worth county sheriff has plead guilty to federal charges involving getting women to expose themselves to him.

Neal Wayne "Bear" Groom plead guilty to depriving 8 Missouri women of their civil rights under the 4th Amendment unreasonable seizures. Groom admits to federal authorities while he was the Worth county sheriff he coerced the women into taking off clothes and even photographed some of them under the guise of checking the women for injuries or for evidence of drug injections. By pleading guilty Groom admits he invaded their personal privacy for no legitimate law enforcement purpose. The former sheriff faces a maximum of a year in prison and a hundred thousand dollar fine on each of the 8 counts. There's no word on his sentencing date.
