Court Costs Up

Starting this week, those convicted in Maryville's municipal court will be paying an even higher fine.

The city has approved an additional $7 charge to any conviction of traffic offences or ordinance violations in Maryville. The fee comes as the city joins a Statewide Justice Information System to automate cases. Maryville city manager Matt LeCurf says while it's an extra fee, just a small percentage of residents will have to pay it, and that's only if you are actually found to be guilty of an ordinance violation.

The fee will be sent to the state as part of the agreement to help maintain software charges in the case automation.
