PSF Update

Premium Standard Farm's efforts to install barn scrapers in their facilities is well ahead of schedule.

That's the assessment from company president Bill Homan. The technology scrapes hog waste across the floors and into pits below the floor allowing for better odor control and use of the manure for fertilizer or other applications. PSF had pledged to install the floor scrapers in its barns by July of next year. But Homan says because of an aggressive work schedule, he expects the job to be completed by the end of this year.

Homan says 260 barns of 366 barns PSF owns now have barn scrapers in them. You can hear more from Homan and the status of PSF during our morning conversation. That's at 11:06 this morning.
