Missouri River Group Meets

Congressional leaders from at least 7 Midwest states are coming together this week for the first "Missouri River Working Group" meeting.

It's designed to form a coalition on capitol hill and start talks with the US Army Corps of Engineers on the flood plan for the Missouri River. Both Missouri senators Roy Blunt and Claire McCaskill will be part of the working group. McCaskill says she's hoping the lawmakers and the Corps can come to an understanding on just what Missouri River management is all about.

Senator Blunt adds in past flooding states in the lower Missouri basin have been mostly impacted. But he says with flooding this year in North Dakota, that state's senator as well as Washington legislators from South Dakota and Montana will be joining the working group's inaugural meeting this week.
