More and more Missouri hospitals are adopting a new way to keep health records.

9 out of 10 hospitals in the state have some type of electronic health record system. According to Dave Dillon with the Missouri Hospital Association, that's a good thing. He says electronic records can keep track of important medical information, better coordinate tests and treatments, and improve patient care, none of this is more obvious than in Joplin.

Dillon adds setting up electronic systems can be very expensive but with new federal and state incentive programs more and more hospitals are considering the idea.
