Elderly Heat

With the heat wave sweeping through our region, it is important to take every precaution especially for senior citizens.

The elderly are more prone to suffering from heat exhaustion because the smaller reserve of water in their systems and the medication they may be taking, mask some symptoms. Community outreach coordinator for Northwest Medical Center in Albany Connie Wordon says it's really critical right now with temperatures in the one hundreds.

Wordon adds many seniors who are without air conditioning say they feel it is bad for them to go from a cooling center back to the heat of their homes. Wordon says this is not the case.
