Nodaway county moves a step closer in creating enhanced enterprise zones to draw industry and jobs into the area.

2 public forums were held yesterday on the EEZ's which create a local designation with the state that can give certain tax abatements to companies coming to Nodaway as long as they create a certain number of jobs and invest a minimum of a hundred thousand dollars. Nodaway County Economic Development executive director Lee Langerock told the community leaders represented wind companies are ready to break ground for wind farms in Nodaway county as soon as an EEZ is agreed to and established. She adds different industries, other than just wind, could also be included for the tax abatement zone in the future.

Communities in Nodaway county are expected to approve the state-required language setting up the enhanced enterprise zone within the next 3 to 4 weeks.
