July 19, 2011MARYVILLE, MO | By: Wayman
As our heat wave continues, several organizations in our region are opening up cooling centers for those without air conditioning.
Senior centers in Maryville, Chillicothe, Trenton, Brookfield, and Bethany are all offering their cool air to those needing relief. In Clarinda the city's safety center is available. In Buchanan county the Health Center, Interserv Calvin Center, and Interserv Wesley Center are all designated safety centers. Several libraries are also offering to take in people, including the libraries in Maryville, Chillicothe, and Savannah. For agencies closing for business in the evening, local governments are suggesting 24 hour department stores or the East Hills Shopping Center in St. Joseph as alternatives.
