8 members of the Missouri Congressional Delegation backing up the governor's request for federal flood assistance.
The representatives spanning north Missouri to Kansas City to the St. Louis area, where the Missouri and Mississippi River meet, sent a letter to the president yesterday asking for a federal emergency declaration. That will open up channels for federal money to come into Missouri and help property owners and businesses impacted from the Missouri River flooding. In their letter the lawmakers highlighted the sheer numbers involved with our current flood fight, 110 roads closed, more than a million sandbags, 2 hundred tons of sand, and other statistics being used in the state, wide flood fight. Earlier this week governor Jay Nixon Sent a similar request to the White House.
