The brother of a northwest Missouri country doctor sets up a scholarship in his honor.
Dr. Marvin Combs grew up on a farm in Worth Missouri, served in the US Army, and then in 1955 took classes at Northwest in Maryville to prepare for a medical career. Combs went on to graduate from the Kansas City University of Medicine and establish successful medical practices in Arizona and in Albany Missouri. His older brother William says he established the scholarship to assist residents of Worth, Gentry, Harrison, and Nodaway counties who seek a college education at Northwest Missouri State to honor how Dr. Combs contributed to the welfare of the communities where he lived.
