Career Center Cuts

Funding cuts force another regional agency to close offices in northern Missouri.

The Northwest Workforce Investment Board will still be based in Trenton and has been operating 3 satellite career centers to serve the 18 county region. The workforce investment board closed the career center office sin Bethany, Cameron, and Mound City yesterday. Officials say the funding cuts hit both administrative and program operations. THe career centers that will stay open are in St. Joseph, Maryville, Chillicothe, and Trenton. They will still offer services as normal, including unemployment assistance and veterans' services. If you have been using an office that's now closed, you are encouraged to contact the remaining career centers. The center in Maryville has also moved from it's South Main location to Maryville's downtown district in the Northwest Regional Council of Governments office located on West 3rd Street.
