The president at the university in Maryville has been elected to serve an important state organization helping Missouri's colleges and universities.
Dr. John Jasinski will be the vice-chair of the council on public higher education. That's the group made up of the presidents and chancellors of four-year higher education institutions in Missouri. It also helps educate Missouri lawmakers on policy for colleges and universities. Besides leading Northwest Missouri State University, Jasinski is nationally known for helping to create the design of the academic quality improvement program accreditation method and serves on a number of task forces and committees on education.
