June 6, 2011ST. JOSEPH, MO | By: Wayman
The city of St. Joseph is putting its flood preparation plan into action, expecting the Missouri River to rise in increments throughout this week, then a surge on June 14th. That's next Tuesday.
A St. Joseph City spokeswoman tells us the city has received an automated sandbagger from the Army Corps of Engineers as well as a hundred thousand sandbags. This is added to the 60,000 sandbags the city already had in storage. Those sandbags can only be used for public safety within St. Joseph and are not for private residential use. The June 14th Crest St. Joseph is expecting from the Missouri River dependant on if there is no more rain any abnormally high rainfall between now and then will, of course, speed up that flooding.
