St. Joseph Evacuation Plans

A rising Missouri River is causing no evacuations yet in St. Joseph but the city has identified two areas to target if flooding starts.

The first is in the north part of St. Joseph, along water works road. A voluntary evacuation order will be announced if the river reaches 25 feet and mandatory evacuations will occur at 27 feet. Right now it's about 22 feet, and expected to reach 24 feet on Monday. The other area is on the south side of St. Joseph. When the river reaches about 30 feet, voluntary evacuations will be issued. Forecasters are predicting moderate flooding along the Missouri at St. Joseph early next week with forecasts keeping it below 27 feet.
