Missouri River flooding has caused a double impact for our communities trying to sandbag.
The dangerous river conditions are actually causing a sand shortage and the state has responded. The normal source of sand comes from river dredging operations, but of course the river is unsafe in many Missouri locations. The governor has now ordered the state's emergency management agency to assist local communities by finding additional suppliers for the sand. Local governments should contact "SEMA" to help replenish low or depleted supplies.
