State officials have approved the 4 and a half percent tuition increase for Northwest Missouri State University.
That approval was required because the regents voted to increase tuition above what state law allows. Earlier this year state lawmakers voted on a nearly 5 and a half percent cut to state appropriations to Missouri's colleges and universities. The governor has yet to sign that proposal into law. With the state approval of Northwest's tuition, students this fall will pay $247 per credit hour for classes.
