New Northwest Regent

A Maryville man has been appointed to the Board of Regents at Northwest Missouri State University.

Francis "Gene" Dorrel was appointed by governor Jay Nixon. Dorrel is a 1976 graduate of Northwest and has been the general manager of United Electric Cooperative in Maryville and Savannah for the past 21 years. He's also the past president of the Nodaway County Economic Development Corporation and has served on several local and state boards. Dorrel says as an alum and resident, he wants to serve the university in Maryville.

Dorrel will be replacing regent Rachelle Brown of Plate City, who has been serving on the board but whose term has expired. His appointment to the Northwests Board of Regents must be confirmed by the senate.
