Missouri's governor has deployed the National Guard ahead of almost certain flooding along the Missouri River.
The executive order came down today, which directs guard members to help coordinate preparations for the flooding like sandbagging and other operations. Two colonels from the Missouri National Guard will oversee two task forces, one for the west part of the state and one for the east. In addition colonel Mike Pankau from the 139th airlift wing is leading a separate task force for flood preparations at Rosecrans Air National Guard Base in St. Joseph and throughout Buchanan county. Adding up the Joplin Tornado, the St. Louis Airport Tornado, the levee explosion in southern Missouri and other disasters, this will mark the Missouri National Guard's 6th mission this year helping Missourians through crisis.
