Local soldiers are supporting flood efforts in north Missouri.
Staff sergeant Brian Garr of Chillicothe and sergeant Jeremy Hughes of Burlington Junction have been checking for "Sand Boils" south of Amazonia in Andrew county. Those are signs in the ground that may indicate water pressure is underneath pushing upwards which are thought to help contribute to levee failure. The two are part of task force 110 from the Missouri Army National Guard. Hugh says the work trying to fight the flooding hits pretty close to home. The mission to look for sand boils in northwest Missouri is the second flood mission the Missouri National Guard has accepted this year.
