Findings of the Lathrop R-II School District audit are in.
The audit found the school district doesn't adequately monitor their diesel fuel usage or compare the amount of diesel purchased to the amount received. According to the audit, the bus contractor does not record the amount of fuel pumped into each bus, making it nearly impossible to compare the miles driven to the amount of fuel used. The district also does not track any fuel that may be pumped into the contractor's spare buses. The audit goes on to evaluate the school district's internal controls and compliance with certain legal provisions. In the areas audited, the overall performance was rated "Good" on a scale of excellent, good, fair, and poor.
