Danner on Flooding

Missouri's flood fight by the Missouri National Guard now has a name.

Calling it "Operation Northern Tide", the guard has divided the state into three sections to fight the Missouri River through mid August. Missouri's adjutant general major general Steve Danner, originally from Chillicothe, says the next few months will make history.

So far about 600 Missourians have evacuated from their homes, primarily in Holt and Atchison counties. Almost all have found places other than local shelters to stay.
