June 21, 2011HOLT COUNTY, MO | By: Wayman
An evacuation order has been issued for the town of Craig Missouri in Holt county.
Emergency operations there say a breach on the Big Tarkio River levee happened about 2 this afternoon, and the high bank levee is now being over-topped. The city of Craig has ordered an evacuation order with all residents to be out of their homes by tomorrow at noon. A Red-Cross Shelter in Mound City is standing by ready to take people if they need housing. That's in the First Christian Church in Mound City. Their number is 442-3104. There are now more than 40 roads in Holt county closed because of water on the roadway. Sandbagging in Craig is set for tomorrow morning to help fortify a temporary levee around the town, but again, residents are being asked to evacuate Craig and be out by noon tomorrow.
