Atchison Flooding

Based on an expected rise in river levels Atchison county has issued a voluntary evacuation order from Interstate 29 West.

The amount of water the Army Corp of Engineers is planning on releasing would raise the river in Atchison to flood levels. Emergency management officials have warned citizens living in that area to evacuate. Director of Emergency Management Rhonda Wiley says work is underway to minimize the damage.
