Northwest Missouri State in Maryville is named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.
That's the highest federal recognition a college or university in America can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service, and civic engagement. Among service projects the Maryville school was involved with were 600 students painting houses and clearing brush in the Maryville community, a mentoring program with grade school students, an alternative spring break project to restore coastal ecosystems in Florida, and a fundraiser for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. In all Northwest students contributed more than 25,000 volunteer hours this past academic year.
