A Graceland graduate gives back to the university, again.
J.R. Shaw, a 1956 Graceland graduate, and his wife Carol gave 13.8 million dollars to add to the existing Shaw Center on the campus. In 1982 the original center was built by the money the Shaw Family gave. Director of media relations for the university Randy Meline says the addition includes a 150 seat recital hall. Meline adds the Shaw Center is a regional performance hub for Iowa and Northern Missouri. When the addition is completed in 14 months, he says facility will be the starship of the region people to gather and enjoy the arts.
