The will of a Nodaway county man, Dean Gingrich has provided an endowment of $435,000 for an agricultural scholarship at Northwest Missouri State University.

Dean Gingrich lived in Nodaway county his entire life, with the exception of 4 years when he served the US Army. He was among the first group drafted into the Army from Nodaway county after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Dean E. and Jean D Gingrich Scholarship provides scholarships for agricultural students with financial need who attended high school in Nodaway, Gentry, Worth, Andrew, Holt or Atchison counties in Missouri. If no student applies from those counties then eligibility will be expanded to students from other locations majoring in agriculture.
