Maryville could see hundreds of visitors come into town by putting it on the map for a youth soccer tournament.

Dale Reuter is a coach for the Maryville twisters and floated the idea for a major soccer tournament to the Maryville City Council. Planning for an event next fall, Reuter says the city should be braced for an influx of visitors.

The proposed event would be at Donaldson Westside Park in Maryville with parking support across the street at the university and could include T-Shirt logo competition, local food vendors, and other businesses getting involved. The city says it supports the initial concept and will work with organizers to move it forward.
