Stories of survival are being told by people either helping or covering the devastation in Joplin.
Mitch Randles is the city's fire chief and told NBC's "Today" show me himself has lost his home. Joplin Globe reporter Jeff Lehr is not just covering the story but being impacted. He's lost his home and had a near miss while trying to save his cat. Officials do expect the death toll to continue rising throughout the day as more crews work on rescue and recovery from the rubble left in three quarters of the city.
