With the governor's assessment of about 2,000 buildings destroyed in Joplin, National Weather Service investigators are trying to learn as much as possible from the historic twister.
Andy Boxell is with the Weather Service out of its Springfield Office and says initial investigations are giving a sense of the tornado's size. Boxell says the work now involves getting into the damage to determine the strength. Boxell says in-depth damage assessments could run into tomorrow or beyond.
