Disaster Assistance

After first being excluded, Buchanan county authorities are now eligible to apply for federal disaster assistance.

That stems from the February blizzard that hammered our listening area. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended disaster funding for 59 Missouri counties impacted by the storm but Buchanan was not among them. Governor Nixon has been working with FEMA to get Buchanan included and now that's happened. This means 75% of the costs for county and local emergency response and recovery will be paid by FEMA if those expenses meet the federal requirements.
