Civil War Medicine

A local doctor and war veteran sheds light on Civil War Medicine and Amputations Thursday.

Dr. William Gondring will speak at the St. Joseph Museum Thursday evening at 6 O'clock. Gondring will talk about the medicine of the time, amputations, surgical techniques, and share his own experiences of field surgery while serving in the Vietnam War. Curator of collection Sara Elder says Gondring has also served on a navi surgical team in El Salvador, Bosnia, and Croatia. Elder adds the program will be held Thursday May 12 at 6 at the St. Joseph Museum.
