About 170 citizen soldiers based at the 548th transportation company in Trenton are leaving any minute now for the Afghanistan battlefield.

The Missouri Army National Guard says the deployment could happen today or the next several days but isn't revealing the exact time because of security. Guardsmen and women have been preparing for the year-long mission for the last several weeks in Texas. Soldiers like specialist Kari Wilcox of Hamilton, who has been undergoing convoy and gunnery training among other duties. This is her first overseas mission, and Wilcox says she's listening to veterans to help her with the unexpected.
