Happy hours on a Friday evening are nothing new.
But you might do a double take if you are in Maryville. The new Nodaway Humane Society is hosting a "Yappy" hour tonight for pets and their owners. The social is not just about having a good time and wagging tails, organizers say it also introduces non-pet owners to the idea of adoption. New Nodaway Humane Society Board member Megan Tilk says the first two Yappy Hours raised more than $200 for the Maryville Shelter which she says is badly needed. Tonight's Yappy Hour takes place every second Friday of the month. It's at the pub in Maryville and runs from 4 until 7 tonight.
