The suspect wanted for allegedly shooting a highway patrolman in northwest Missouri this morning is now in jail.
31 year old Justin Heller was arrested in Kansas City about 1:30 this afternoon. The patrol says it all started when the Cameron Police started a pursuit about 4 this morning of a stolen vehicle out of Kearney. A trooper who lived nearby got in his patrol vehicle and joined the chase which ended when the suspect crashed near Holt Missouri at I-35 and Route PP. The trooper attempted to arrest the suspect but a fight started, and the suspect allegedly grabbed the trooper's gun and fired once, missing the patrolman. The suspect then fled. Investigators say he also stole a Caravan min-van. It was found burned out in a Kansas City neighborhood. Law enforcers from around northwest Missouri have been on the lookout for Heller for most of the day until his capture this afternoon in north eastern Kansas City.
