Missouri senators are weighing in following the president's speech: How To Tackle The Debt And The Controversial Move Of Raising The Debt Ceiling.
Senator Claire McCaskill praises Mr. Obama's focus on reducing the deficit saying the problem demands immediate action to install permanent discipline on federal spending. Senator Roy Blunt says he's not opposed to raising the debt ceiling higher, but says that has to come with changes. The debt today is at 70% of the nation's economy. Congressional analysts say if spending stays on the same path the national debt will be more than 3 times the economy by 2050.
