Regional Deployment

About 170 citizen soldiers from St. Joseph, Maryville, Trenton, Cameron, and across north Missouri have just a few days left before their deployment on Monday for a year-long mission to Afghanistan.

Soldiers of the Missouri Army National Guard's 548th transportation company spent this week in southern Missouri for a final exercise before leaving on Monday for Fort Bliss Texas then onto Afghanistan. First sergeant Mark Richardson of St. Joseph, also a highway patrolman, is leaving for the mission and says it's a sacrifice both for them and their families. On Monday afternoon there will be a departure ceremony for the 548th. That will be in Trenton at the Ketcham Community Center starting at 3.
