Maryville is moving forward with a public art project.

The First Stop: Maryville's Downtown District. A citizen's group has been working on public art displays since late last year to compliment the streetscape re-design currently underway. THe group will be placing 4 large contemporary metal pieces created by Northwest Missouri State student Dustin Koopmans. He says the geometric, industrial looking artwork took about 4 months to create 6 pieces each about 7 feet tall. Four of the sculptures are set to be in place around the Nodaway County Courthouse late next month and will be on display for one year. Koopmans is keeping the other two to sell.
