Iowa Homicide Charges

Authorities have charged an Essex woman in a collision that killed two children near Red Oak in southwest Iowa.

Montgomery County Attorney Bruce Swanson says Wednesday that Karli Brown is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of serious injury by motor vehicle. She was arrested Tuesday and released from jal on $10,000 bond. Brown is accused of colliding head-on with a car on Nov. 28. Two children in the other car were killed. Their mother and Brown were injured. Swanson says Brown is accused of driving in a reckless manner. She was allegedly speeding, testing and passing in a no-passing zone. Her case is not on the online court system, and it wasn't immediately known if she has an attorney.
