MARYVILLE, MO (2011-03-22)
Our region is still bracing for severe weather into late tonight but it appears it won't be too much worse than a typical early spring storm.
The latest forecasts from the National Weather Service says rain is not the concern but very strong winds and hail. Forecasters say the most severe will be in northwest Missouri and south west Iowa between 4 and 8 tonight. The Chillicothe and north central Missouri area should see the worst between 6 and 8. National Weather Service meteorologist Matthew Dux says there's a 30% chance for hail up to 2 inches for our region just a 10% chance for tornados. The fast moving storm is expected to quit rainfall by 10 tonight.
