Daylight savings time begins early this SUnday morning and while you are setting your clocks forward, fire officials remind you it's a good time to check your smoke alarms as well.
Every year in America more than 2,000 die in fires. Many cases involve non-working or non-existent smoke detectors. Phil Rickabaugh is Maryville's fire chief and says your chance of survival greatly improves with a detector check. Fire officials say checking your carbon monoxide detectors is another item on the checklist while setting your clocks forward this Saturday night or Sunday morning.
