Officer DWI Case

A St. Joseph police sergeant has been temporarily reassigned and an internal investigation launched after she's charged with driving while intoxicated.

The St. Joseph police say sergeant Jill Voltmer was taken into custody after allegedly crashing into a parked vehicle yesterday afternoon. No other people were involved and there were no injuries. The initial report says sergeant Voltmer left the scene. Police got a call from a citizen who saw it happen and a St. Joseph police officer stopped Voltmer a short distance from the crash and arrested her. Voltmer faces the misdemeanor charge of DWI and has been re-assigned to other duties within the St. Joseph PD while its internal professional standards office investigates.
