ST. JOSEPH (2011-03-10)
A major economic development group in our region lands half a million dollars in federal loans and grants.
The MO-KAN development is based in St. Joseph and helps with business activity in northwest Missouri and north east Kansas. MO-KAN found out yesterday it's receiving a $400,000 loan and $100,000 grant from rural development money from the USDA. MO-KAN will be using the money to help business startups, expansion of existing businesses, or entrepreneurs purchasing existing enterprises. The federal money is aimed at helping so-called "Micro-Entrepreneurs" to help rural communities as a whole.
