A hometown favorite presents at a lecture tonight in Maryville.
Fred Mared in known as "The Hy-Vee Greeter" around Maryville but tonight is the keynote at the ploghoft diversity lecture on the university campus. Mares is a Pulitzer prize-winning journalist, author, and humanitarian. He's most recently picked up accolades at Hy-Vee corporate headquarters as a national example in customer service and the namesake of "Fred Mares Day" in October as proclaimed by the mayor of Maryville. Along with his inspiring story he will also appear tonight with a guitar and piano. The lecture starts at 7:30 tonight at the Ron Houston Center for the performing Arts on the Northwest Campus.
