MARYVILLE, MO (2011-03-11)
A former Maryville resident now living in Hawaii says most people were calm and collected as the tsunami warnings woke everyone.
Stratton King is a former university student in Maryville and former announcer here on KXCV. King lives at Waikiki and says he was awoken in the middle of the morning by the warnings. He says even though there were shelters closer he drove up to the mountain tops in the middle of the island to try and get a bird's eye view of the approaching waves. King says there was a run on gas and groceries just like in mainland severe weather events, but is just glad for the most part the tsunami's damage was very localized.
