The Lied Public Library in Clarinda, Iowa is offering free online computer classes, even if you do not have a library card.
To access the classes, one only needs a high speed Internet connection and an E-mail account. The classes are presented live both online and at the library, and online participants can even ask questions with the instructors. Andrew Hoppmann, library director, says the classes are intended to build participants' understanding of technology. Wilbor 101 will be held tomorrow morning at 10:30. Wilbor is an online program allowing library members to download audio books at home for free, which can be transferred to an MP3 player or CD. Facebook 101 will be held the morning of March 18th at 10:30, and will teach participants the basics of creating a Facebook account, setting up a profile, finding and adding friends, and figuring out what the wall is all about.
