The "HUD" program is known as the "Balance of State Continuum of Care" and specifically targets the 101 rural counties of Missouri. In northern Missouri, $888,000 will be shared among the city of St. Joseph, St. Joseph's haven, and the Home Plus program. Northwest permanent housing will get nearly $137,000, and the Kirksville area nearly $98,000. The money will be used for permanent as well as transitional housing, plus care and supportive services for northern Missouri residents considered homeless or poverty stricken.
