Feb. 1, 2011MARYVILLE, MO | By: Wayman
In a move postponed because of last week's snow storm, the city has now agreed to award the contract to Loch Sand and Construction of Maryville. Earlier the council had given it to the Kansas City area heartland contractors since it had the low bid. However that company has since failed to turn over the required paperwork in the amount of time the contract specified. Loch's Sand and Construction has previously worked on an earlier portion of the downtown district upgrades, and told the city it would honor the costs of its bid. The city says re-issuing it to the Maryville company will cost about $50,000 more than the original company, but that will be made up of a penalty heartland will pay for not following the contract requirements and from other funding sources.
