St. Joseph Naturalist

A master naturalist chapter is coming to St. Joseph after the Missouri Conservation Department receive numerous requests and teamed up with the Missouri extension to create the certification program to become master naturalist. Naturalists get involved in projects such as collecting seeds for prairie restoration, monitoring bird populations, controlling invasive species and giving educational presentations on wildlife. Missouri Department of Conservation education specialist and the master naturalist chapter advisor TJ Peacher in St. Joseph says those with a passion for the outdoors can greatly benefit fron this organization and program. Applications to participate are due by February 8 with classes every Tuesday evening 6-8:30 fron February 22 through May 24 held at the MDC office. An informational meeting will be held at 6 p.m. January 25th at the MDC Nrothwest Regional Office located at 701 James McCarthy Drive on the Missouri Western campus.
