New Hampton Fire

New Hampton fire chief Aaron Langfitt says crews were called to the Big G Pool Hall about 12:17 this morning to see it engulfed in smoke and fire coming out of one corner. Lagfitt says a family of 6 got out of the basement with just smoke inhalation and about 40 firefighters from 4 departments tried to keep the fire from spreading. But it was about 7 this morning the flames flared up and then struck the next door New Hampton hardware building. Langfitt says they weren't able to save it either but did safely take care of a big concern: Two propane tanks outisde. As of midday the state fire marshall was on the scene to determine the cause but had to wait for the fire to cool before starting his investigation.
